2019 – June 2
The Disciples had come a long way. A few weeks ago they were running afraid of anything. They were protecting themselves and after bitter disappointment tried to go back to their old ways.
Jesus was having none of that.
Kickstart of Belief
Then they were amazed… Jesus was there resurrected. He had conquered death which would bring everyone life. He promised he would return and he did. Even though none of the disciples had any idea what he was talking about.
And look at the description of the Disciples we have today… the Disciples are listening, they are calm and they are rejoicing. They will stay in the city as Jesus said and they will pray and worship God.
Ascension of the Disciples
Yes, Jesus Ascended into Heaven, but we can also see the ascension of the Disciples… from quivering fear to trust and joy. This too is how we live out our lives… While next week we celebrate Pentecost… our own Pentecost happened both at our Baptism, where we received the Holy Spirit and then at our Confirmation when it manifested itself in those gifts of the Holy Spirit
Today, we too worship God and praise Him and we indeed thank him for His gifts, most importantly the gift of the Eucharist which lifts us up and brings us joy and worship
